Really enjoyed reading this article…..very informative. Thanks Guyanese Online.

We folks here and elsewhere wouldn’t know having never lived in one. The BBC doesn’t know either cause their home country ain’t that great in comparison. Why is Costa Rica not on the list? Expats don’t generally move to a country in droves that is worse off than theirs.

If I had President Trump’s ear, I would have told him that people from Holland and like places orplaces on this list don’t want to come to America because to them America is a sh**hole. I would also point out to him that his ivory tower/Trump Tower is located in the most over-crowed, dirtiest and smelliest sh**hole in America. A 15 minute taxi ride in moderate traffic from his ivory tower in any direction would have confirmed this reality for him.

Rest assured though that most Americans share the same view as Mr Trump and they do say it just as openly. The only difference is that they don’t have a world stage. Here’s another fact, this view is not limited to Haiti and African countries. Most of the Caribbean countries are included in this “sh**hole comment, and that now includes Guyana all over again!. Why do Caribbean countries treat Guyanese the same way they treat Haitians? Because Burnham turned Guyana into a sh**hole! The PPP spent 23 years trying to sanitize the sh**hole only to see their efforts wasted when America the sh**hole decided that it couldn’t allow that to happen and went about putting an uncle tom and fellow like-minded toms to turn the place back into a sh**hole! Didn’t take long. Just goes to show how full of sh** this lot is…

The PPP had 23 years to right the ship . How much longer should they have had? Guyana should be a paradise, it has the right temperature, it has the ocean, it has eco-tourism potential. What has the PPP done to develop that industry for the greater good of the people? It is time to stop the blame game and put an end to your festered hatred for a certain group.

Gigi: “most Americans share the same view as Mr Trump and they do say it just as openly.”
A majority of Americans dont know the countries bordering the US; or that the earth circles the sun and not the other way. I doubt if 10% could find Afghanistan on a map, yet we kill and die there. Geography is not an American strong point.
If Guyana is a sh**hole country why is it so easy to get a visa to visit the US.

Ali, you clearly are of the impression that Rome was built in a day! You must be a god in your own mind! Are you successful? Were you born into wealth? If not, were you able to personally achieve your success from the day you became an adult or did it take time? Can you honestly say that Guyana was worse under the PPP than the PNC even with the obstructionist PNC/AFC in opposition.
Now, what was Guyana’s GDP debt ratio when the PPP took office and what was it when they were removed from office? Guyana was the equivalent to a poor person with bad credit. What institutions lend money/do business with poor people/poor people with bad credit? Predatory lenders/institutions. And Guyana was no different! And like Nigeria, all the oil will not make a dent of difference in the living conditions of the citizens under this govt because the wealth revenue ain’t for them.Just ask Nigerians!

Albert, sure glad you brought that up. What group were the ones getting US visas? See below the part of Trump’s comment most of the media left out because it doesn’t fit the narrative they want to promote. This also explains why it is easy for certain Guyanese to get a US visa. Oh well, back to telling people I’m from Asia or light skin South American country. Your Portuguese roots means that you too can get away with stretching the truth concerning your place of origin. Hey, I’ve always stated that I was born in the wrong country and live on the wrong continent.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to countries mentioned by the lawmakers.[…]
The president, according to a White House official, also suggested he would be open to more immigrants from Asian countries because he felt that they help the United States economically.
