Guyanese travelers disembarking from Dynamic International Airways at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Guyana.

North Carolina-based Dynamic International Airways has once again left Guyanese passengers stranded, this time, abruptly pulling out, after a troublesome four-year charter service to the South American country.

This latest report prompted handling agent Captain Gerry Gouveia, CEO and owner of Roraima Airways to say via his Facebook page, that passengers who booked with the airline are entitled to a refund.    Continue reading

One common response to the national anthem protests originated by Colin Kaepernick is to disparage them as polarizing. Joe Scarborough, host of Morning Joe, summed up this particular critique in a tweet last weekend:

“This may be unpopular, but it is a political reality. Every NFL Player refusing to stand for the National Anthem helps Trump politically.”

The idea here is that kneeling NFL players are committing an act of such blatant disrespect that they hand Trump an easy image with which to demagogue.   Continue reading

On October 3, the United States experienced the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. At least 58 people were killed and over 500 more were wounded. No, that’s not a typo: More than 500 people were injured in one single incident.

As tens of thousands enjoyed a music festival on the streets of Las Vegas, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada, was perched 32 floors above them in his Mandalay Bay hotel room. Paddock had 19 rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammo — supplies that are plentiful in a nation that has more guns than people.
