Spain is in crisis, and its prime minister appears to be in denial. The run-up to Sunday’s referendum on independence for Catalonia made it clear that the country was in trouble.

He did it his way. He believed that in the end the support of the community would push him over the limit and onto victory.

Richard David fell short, but not by many. In the three-way race there is no question that he emerged as the most popular candidate. There is no doubt also that Richard won the hearts and minds of the community.

Statistics matter. In each race we were brought a step closer to the door of victory ‘on this side of the Van Wyck’ and given time it will happen. But Richard David brought us to the brink. He made us believe in ourselves that victory is not some pipe dream; it is actually attainable.

Guyana’s Community-based tourism impresses Barbados team

Guyana’s Tourism was once again showcased as a team of Barbadian Tourism experts conducted a five-day “Fam: trip” (Familiarisation Tour) organised by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA).

In 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the GTA and the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., on areas of cooperation; concentrating on two main areas – multi-destination packaging and the sharing of information to assist each other in the tourism sector. This ‘fam trip’ is a direct result of the MOU.

Barbados is commonly known for its ‘Sun, Sand and Sea.’ However, members of the Barbadian team noted that the country does not have adventure packages. They were impressed with the concept of Community-based Tourism (CBT).  Continue reading
