The Guyana Tri-State Alliance has been around for more than 26 years. Each year, it has honored Guyanese of distinction. This year, a large crowd met at Brooklyn Borough Hall to celebrate the achievements of Guyanese from different professions.

The function observed the 51st anniversary of Guyana’s independence and it was held under the patronage of the Honorable Eric L. Adams, Brooklyn Borough President and Councilman Dr. Mathieu Eugene, who represents the 40th Council District of Brooklyn. Guyana’s Head of State, His Excellency Mr. David Granger, said that we should respect the differences in a diverse society and should have mutual respect for each other.   

The 2017 honorees were Pandit Chunelall Narine, Karen Gray, David Correia, Mercedes Pierre, Dr. Kamini Doobay, Michael Kevin Williams, Dr. Jacqueline Gulstone, Allison Butters-Grant, Brian Singh, Cloyette Harris-Stoute, Romola Lucas Esq, Imam Rudy Zaman, Bishop Robin Diannanauth, Sapphire Autumn Rose, and Sydney Mahadeo. The Golden Arrowhead Award of Achievement and Distinction was presented by Guyana’s Consul-General to New York, the Honorable Barbara Atherly, to the honorees. The Consul-General was also the keynote speaker.
