Please see the information below on behalf of Horace James, Bauxite Century Chairman.

The week of October 23 to 29, 2016 has been designated Bauxite Century Week. The following activities have been planned in Linden. All are invited.

Sun, October 23 – Church Services [at churches that the Bauxite company contributed significantly in building: Christ the King Anglican, St. Aidan’s Anglican, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church]

Tues, October25 – Debating and Quiz competitions FINALS featuring High School & Primary School kids respectively. [Preliminary rounds will be held previously] QUIZ in the morning; DEBATE in the afternoon

Wed, October 26 – Symposium and Launching of the Centennial Magazine
[The symposium looks to the future and beyond for bauxite and the magazine was developed  by the Bauxite Century [BC] committee to chronicle the history of bauxite over the past century]

Thurs, October 27 – Unveiling of four (4) Centennial stamps by Guyana Post Office Corporation  at Three Friends Mine

Fri, October 28 – Bauxite Centennial Dinner

Mon, November 21 – Unveiling of Arch and opening of Centennial Park at Washer Pond and Casuarina Drive junction [subject to the availability of President David Granger. The arch is a gift from BOSAI Minerals to celebrate both the 100th anniversary of bauxite mining and 50th anniversary of  independence in Guyana.
