It is not only about Kanye West grabbing the microphone out of Taylor Swift’s hands or the fact that he says he is God. It’s not only about someone shouting ‘You lie’ at President Obama or Serena Williams going ballistic with a line umpire. It is about all of these and more. It is about the decline of civility in America.

Anthony Weiner is fodder for the Freudians. He had it all and lost it. Weiner ‘sexts’ at the expense of his marriage and dares us to catch him. The crotch shots are his desperate and convoluted cries for help. What about the presidential campaign and civility? There is no doubt that the current presidential campaign is a confederacy of yobbishness that pulsates with incivility.

Very true and on point ! As a matter of fact many people growing up in North America feel a sense of Entitlement because they no longer appreciate the value of living by the Golden Rule !

Very impressive article Dr. Narine. It’s true that the erosion of ethics, respect and justice and the progression of arrogance, bigotry, partisan politics and pornography have played a significant role in making our society increasingly degenerative. Donald Trump’s disdainful and disgraceful behavior, as a presidential candidate, has displayed how much the standards of respect have been degraded. Barack Obama has been one of our good and outstanding presidents in term of his two terms performance and his his standards of morality, respect and rectitude. Yet, he has been shown so much disrespect and humiliated by the Republican Party and diehard bigots.

Incivility in a corrupt society breathes more incivility. The educational environment has to change our bad ways (home, school and in-between).
