Mohamed Hack from the Inter- faith Council for Community Development in New York cares deeply about the welfare of his community. Mr. Hack is a Muslim who is concerned about the negative image that Islam is inheriting due to conflicts that have made the headlines. The latest is the massacre in San Bernardino in California where the Muslim community is again put in the international spotlight.

Mr. Hack to his credit has a track record in trying to create avenues for discussions with other faiths. The idea is to see the extent to which the religions can learn from each other and to use the common themes to foster understanding. A week ago Mr. Hack called a meeting in New York and invited leaders of the Muslim community, and other guests, to denounce terrorism and hate crimes in view of the San Bernardino incident.   Continue reading
