Rare is the day that passes in Israel without a  headline. Or two.

The 50-year-old came hurtling into politics at full speed – a swirl of hawkish positions, Facebook updates and blue high-heeled shoes – less than eight years ago. And it’s been go-go-go ever since.

One might easily, on any given morning, wake up to Israel’s Minister of Culture and Sports lecturing the radio talk show hosts on why Arab members of parliament praying at the Temple Mount need to be thrown into jail. Or, maybe, you might catch her on Twitter, sharing 140 characters worth of her morning musing on the U.S.-Iran deal.

Grabbing coffee – TV on in the background – one might then catch a few sound bites from a quickly convened press conference over at her Tel Aviv office. There, she might be talking about what she thinks of the national judo team competing at the grand slam competition in Abu Dhabi without Israeli flag patches on their judogis (not much). Or, maybe she will be railing against the “Ashkenazi” music she claims Army Radio plays.  Continue reading

  1. Linden: Small Business Development Fund established. Loans for the self-employed.  Focus on women self employment.
  2. First Lady Sandra Granger at Lethem Region Workshop. Focus on Women and their role in the community. Self employment and independence extremely important as well the vaue they must place on their work.
  3. Kaieteur National Park: Amerindian residents of the Chenapau community want to see the Kaieteur and its history respected. They want to see an end to its use as a suicide site.  They also want more help with education to reduce the student dropout rate.
  4. Georgetown:  Stabroek mini bus park demarcated and order implemented.   Also the Ministry of Tourism is looking at making part of Georgetown a World Heritage site similar to that of done in Paramaribo, Suriname.
