Pooran Ramnanan Delivers as Promised!

Pooran Ramnanan promised and he delivered. The recent games with the cricket legends were an unqualifi ed success attracting hundreds to Idlewild Park in Queens, New York

Pooran’s vision was to bring the legends to New York to play in two T20 games. It was also to invite players to have a game with the youngsters and to pass on valuable tips to them. The public too would get a chance to meet and greet the players and engage them in conversations. It was no easy task to assemble some of the top West Indies legends in cricket but Pooran managed to do so with panache and skill.

The stories of the legends would fill volumes. The names included Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Gordon Greenidge, Gus Logie, Darren Ganga, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Mervyn Dillon, Pedro Collins, Mahendra Nagamootoo, Larry Gomes, Clayton Lambert, Faoud Bacchus, Carlisle Best, Alvin Kallicharran and the one and only Sir Garfield Sobers. There were also the evergreen Joe Solomon and the fearless Sew Shivnarine.

At a reception at Antuns Banquet Hall the legends greeted each other and mixed with the guests. It was a beautiful occasion. The games were played at Idlewild Park, a picturesque ground surrounded by tall trees that proved to be a magnifi cent setting for cricket. The Legends Committee included some of the most knowledgeable scribes in the game and they were Joe Siewharak, Cliff Reyes, Tony Hinds, Berol Hinds, John Aaron, and Curtis Clark.

Shamin Ally from Laparkan deserves excellent plaudits as his offi ce and the resources of Laparkan became the headquarters for the committee. Pooran would like to thank the fans and sponsors for their support. He was happy to bring the legends to New York and he looks forward to other such ventures in the future.

Excellent for a game of “biblical” esteem.
Hope it was recorded and Televised world wide.

    Song comes to mind

    Cricket lovely cricket
At Lords were I saw it
Yardley tried his best but Goddard won the test
At last it was said and done
Second test the west indies won

20/20 is as entertaining today as it was yesterday.

Congratulations to all concerned “wish I was there”

Hey man, you left out the refrain:”———– Ramadhin & Valentine”. The preceding words were variable
    “The bowling was super fine…
“With those little pals of mine…
