The Sad Karma of Empire – an analysis of the American Empire – Philip Farruggio

The Sad Karma of Empire

As the American culture becomes more violent with each day, we must ask ourselves: would there actually be groups like ISIS if not for what America did in Afghanistan and Iraq? We need to realize how much bad karma this empire has accrued.

Published: June 30, 2015 | Authors: Philip Farruggio | NationofChange | Op-Ed

To this writer, empire is not exactly what the dictionary defines it as:  A group of nations or peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress or other sovereign or government; usually a territory of greater extent than a kingdom. Another definition can be found stating: A powerful and important enterprise or holding of large scope that is controlled by a single person, family or group of associates.

Putting these two definitions together, one can perhaps begin to understand what our American Empire looks like. The heinous marriage between mega wealth via corporate capitalism and elected government. The first born  bastard child they named The Military Industrial Empire!

When the victors of WW1, including the quickly dying British Empire and the up and coming American one, chose to push theVersailles Diktat on Germany… the seeds for radical government were planted there. The Third Reich was the bad karma to tenth degree resulting  from the overbearing decisions at Versailles. Of course, our empire , with its corporate boosters, profited the most from the Nazi horror while our European allies were being beaten down by it.. along with of course the multitude of innocent Jews, Communists, Socialists, trade unionists etc.

Those who know the truth of history realize that WW2 helped nurture our current American empire. Then, being like a superstar athlete on mega steroids, America became Amerika, with our  imperial machinations causing a Cold War ( read Stone & Kuznicks ’The Untold History of the United States ) and from it our disastrous venture into Vietnam. Yet, we as a nation learned nothing from the Vietnam debacle. Our Military Industrial Empire just chugged along from one overseas action to another, while the Fat Cat war industry and the Pentagon grew into monsters.

Ever ask yourself why our American culture becomes more and more violent every day? Child psychologists can tell you that when the parent is a bully to the child, the child grows up into one as well. When the parent, as role model ( or lack of one ) reveals a life of rage and violence, the child is more apt to parrot that way of living. Please read Elizabeth Holtzman & Cynthia Cooper’s 2012 book Cheating Justice: How Bush and Cheney attacked the rule of law and plotted to avoid prosecution …and begin to understand how rot from the top seeps down. It began with the phony and orchestrated  lies to justify preemptive war on Iraq, and then the terrible occupation with blatant use of torture, more often than not on individuals later deemed innocent of anything.

The book covers the deceptions and outright crimes of trying to use legal mumbo jumbo to circumvent the Geneva Accords and US War Crimes Act of 1996. Men like John Yoo, Jay Bybee and Alberto Gonzales wrote these at the request of Cheney, Rumsfeld and of course Junior Bush ( if they even took the time to tell that jackass about it ). Bybee got his just reward by becoming a federal judge. Woo got his with a professorship  and Fredo, Bush Junior’s lapdog Attorney General got his as, are you ready for this, the Dean of Law at Belmont University. The Dean of law!!! Alas, the terrible deeds done by all these men (and of course the phony Condi Rice ) are , to this writer, resonating with our nation’s increased culture of violence and ‘ what’s in it for me ‘ mentality of many of our young folks. When people see, and more importantly sense that our leaders are literally getting away with murder, or that our corporation Fat Cats are getting mega rich at their expense… **** happens.

Do any of you out there actually think that groups like ISIS would ever exist if not for what America did in Afghanistan and Iraq? Would suicide bombers be so prevalent in Israel if that nation did not continue to treat the Palestinians as they have for over 60+ years? Thus, I make the same bold statement concerning the crazy country we now live in. Yes, there will always be violent, unstable individuals who will do harm to others for no rational reason. Yet, when it is so continuous… we need to see how much bad karma this empire has accrued….. Food for thought.

Karma (Sanskrit: कर्म; IPA: [ˈkərmə]; Pali: kamma) means action, work or deed;[1] it also refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influence the future of that individual (effect).[2]Good intent and good deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering.[3][4] Karma is closely associated with the idea of rebirth in some schools of Asian religions.[5]In these schools, karma in the present affects one’s future in the current life, as well as the nature and quality of future lives – or, one’s saṃsāra.[6]

With origins in ancient India, it is a key concept in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism,Sikhism,[7] and Taoism.[8]

Surprise surprise ! Was not Roman and later empires including British empire “barbaric” ? Are humans not “tribal” in their conquest and subdication.
Was religion not used by the Romans after invasion/conquest to rule
the new “citizens” of Rome. What is “citizenship” today ? Nationalism !.
Nationalistic pride in sport acceptable nationalistic pride in WAR not.
Why is the burning of a flag (symbol of obedience/reverence) treated with such “aggressive” “violence” by law enforcement agencies …..police army et al.?
What is the “charges” “sentence” today for burning a national flag in public.?

Until we understand the thinking behind the creation of nation states and the nationalistic motives for flag creation we are but “sacrificial lambs” to the Gods
in power. Corporate and political…..first appointed other elected.

    Google empire then Citizenship.

Am a by product of empire and citizen of planet earth.

Today some don’t believe in aged karma
Because it is not in their cultural dharma
The Germans were guilty of this evil thing
When millions sat around and did nothing
As Adolph Hitler slaughtered millions of Jews in blazes
They’re sitting on the same soil with the bones and ashes
On the notorious Auchwitz-Berga-Dachau death camps
When Jews had their final showers by those evil scamps

And the so-called good Germans sat by and did nothing
How can they feel now that the world knows everything
What went on with all their weird experiment
On those men, women and children so innocent
If there’s a God by and under any denomination
Karma is there all over its Germanic demarcation
And believe me in karma such place is darn cursed
Whether the helpers were willing or were forced

And the world goes on as some try for peace
    We’ve seen mankind’s desensitivity increase
Very few leaders now are or can do the following
Of Mahatma Gandhi, Mandella or Martin L King
Most are too busy in nepotism and corruption
Their souls are floundering in a boiling cauldon
Yet despite how much they work and sweat
They can never get out of their Karmic debt

So we agree that Karma comes back to bite
It will happen no matter how hard you fight
Mankind has to understand that it is all okay
Accept your life as is no matter what who say
The sick child is part of karma making its mark
Don’t blame yourself live your life sing like a lark
Make the most of what you’ve today without sorrow
Embrace the hurt and live it like there’s no tomorrow

Norman Tewarie, your poem would have resonated with me if you had omitted the false propaganda about Hitler only killing the Jews. Given your last name, you, too, would have been enslaved and then incinerated in one of Germany’s many internment camps. Even if you were of the same Bible thumping religion as Hitler you would have been killed – Catholic, Assembly of God, Jehovah Witness, Baptist, Anglican, none were spared.

Last year I taught a lesson on the Jewish Holocaust to a 5th grade class. I was greatly relieved when, during the intro to the lesson, some students volunteered that Jews were not the only ones who were killed. One blue eyed, blonde hair boy pointed out that he would have been killed for being a Jew. This took me by surprise because he didn’t look Jewish to me. I mentioned to the class that I, too, would have been killed. Some of the children looked at me curiously and asked why. I pointed to my skin tone.

Getting back to the article, if nations espousing god were really religious they would not do a quarter of the evils they carry out, which just goes to show that religion is a convenient tool to control the masses who actually delight in violence; and why it is often use to justify such violence. To quote Voltaire:

“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”

“God is a comedian playing to an audience that is too afraid to laugh.”

“If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.”

I have to confess though that I aspire to become a nonconformist Buddhist for the very reason that Buddhism is not a religion per se and Buddha explicitly said “I am not a god, do not make me your god.” But, even then, Buddhism has become greatly corrupt and violent as it too has been hijacked by unscrupulous barbarians. Earth will only be at peace when man no longer inhabits it.

He would NOT have been enslaved by Hitler, even though the latter had no particular love for Indians. As part of the struggle against the British some Indians fought WITH the Nazis just as they did with the Japanese. Read up a little more Gigi.

  • Thinker  On 07/22/2015 at 4:11 am

I am no authority on karma but it is just too easy to use Hitler and Nazi Germany in everything. The better example would be how Donald Trump has messed up the Republican party and the other Presidential candidates with his crazy comments. Think back 4 years ago when Mitt Romney begged for Trump’s approval, (Lindsey Graham too). despite all the nonsense Trump had said about Obama’s “illegal alien” status. None of the Republicans firmly rejected the “birther” movement and it shows how little moral authority they have now. May they lose badly.

  • compton de castro  On 07/22/2015 at 7:09 am

Am still backing the “witch” to succeed “Obama” with other Demo candidate making things more entertaining….you guessed right Bernie Saunders ….
It’s a two horse demo race … grand national.

    Gigi no exception ! 😀

  • Gigi  On 07/22/2015 at 10:32 am

@ thinker, you do know that Hitler had many influential Jews in his inner circle and that the main thrust behind the attack on Jews was to get them to leave Europe to create a Jewish homeland. Then the old saying “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” took effect. Do read up some more thinker …see below. I actually had a very good link to the one of the US presidential libraries that covered the Nazi/Zionist connection in the Jews quest for a homeland but I lost it when my old computer crashed a few years ago. If you have the time perhaps you can do a search

“On the foundation of the new state, which has established the principle of race, we wish so to fit our community into the total structure so that for us too, in the sphere assigned to us, fruitful activity for the Fatherland is possible….

Our acknowledgment of Jewish nationality provides for a clear and sincere relationship to the German people and its national and racial realities. Precisely because we do not wish to falsify these fundamentals, because we, too, are against mixed marriage and are for maintaining the purity of the Jewish group….

We believe in the possibility of an honest relationship of loyalty between a group-conscious Jewry and the German state…. For its practical aims, Zionism hopes to be able to win the collaboration even of a government fundamentally hostile to Jews, because in dealing with the Jewish question no sentimentalities are involved but a real problem whose solution interests all peoples, and at the present moment especially the German people.”

  • Thinker  On 07/22/2015 at 11:41 am

Gigi, Just as the great Indian Nationalist hero Subhas Chandra Bose collaborated with the Nazis and the Japanese against the British, no doubt some Jews/Zionists were known to have collaborated with the Nazis. They were NOT in Hitler’s “inner circle”. Everyone’s “racial” origins were scrupulously checked at all levels of Nazi Germany and anyone suspect was “weeded out”. The fundamentals of Nazi ideology were incompatible with Zionism
and the racial theory aspect was inherited from 19th century German phiolosophy. All that “Aryan” crap which so many around the world still believe was the result. Not surprising that a photo of the queen, her sister, mother and uncle making the Nazi salute showed up recently. The Windsors were all proud of their German origins. As I have mentioned before, there was a trial run of genocide in German West Africa, now Namibia, long before Hitler came to power. Don’t know why those guys don’t keep on mentioning it and reminding the world. They never even sought reparations as Israel did. Black people need to get more organised.

I would imagine that even you, Gigi, would not take that piece of Nazi propaganda quoted, at face value. Early on the Nazi decided on the extermination of the Jews, Gypsies, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Homosexuals etc. I credit you with a certain minimal amount of perspicacity.

    Gigi and Thinker
While on the subject of germans V Jews please allow my two cents….

After WW2 a wall was built to divide the German people.
Few years later that wall was removed.
Today the German people are as united as ever.

My wish is that one day soon the “wall” of race that divides Guyana will
be eradicated and Guyanese become a united people.

Adrian wall was built by Romans to keep the barbaric Scots out after
Roman invasion 55bc….today Scots voted to be part of ukplc.
Churchill divided Ireland … they are still two countries.
Hopefully a referendum will unite them soon.

People are people wherever they are it is economics/politics/religion
that divides them. Get it right and my dream comes true.

    One people
    One nation
    One world.

    LFSB was a dictator but also a ” maverick/lunatic”.
    Think am both.

@ befuddled thinker, when two people hold different views some, not all, will see the other as propaganda to justify and reinforce theirs. I maintain from my propaganda readings that Hitler (whose mother was Jewish) did have influential Jews in his INNER CIRCLE and that they collaborated because their interest aligned – to rid or remove from Germany those not belonging to the German view of the ideal race. The Germans also carried out genocide on an island somewhere off the coast of Australia, I don’t recall the name but the entire Aborigines population was murdered. And Israel and America are both still carrying out genocide against native inhabitants in the countries they have invaded and declared their homeland.

Tasmania and it wasn’t the Germans

  • Thinker  On 07/23/2015 at 2:57 pm

It is RUMOURED that Hitler’s biological grandfather was Jewish. I am just interested in establishing what is known at this point in time, not in propaganda. All you have to do is mention your no doubt reputable sources. Some in his inner circle were rumoured to have Jewish ancestry but no one who was a Jew could be a Nazi party member.

  • compton de castro  On 07/23/2015 at 7:31 pm

People are people regardless of their ethic and/or religious influences.
Did not Judas betray Jesus and Kane kill Abel in the stories.
Regardless of Hitler’s ancestry he was human first evil second.
Human nature is sometimes unpredictable not unlike nature.
No one would have imagined the outcome in early Hitler rise to power
whether he was of Jewish extraction or not.
Human are unique as a species their minds sometimes irrational.
Dont think Hitler’s ancestry had anything to do with his actions.
Many become Gods in their physce …..power destroys the human soul.
    Power over life/death.

    Rest my case

To paraphrase the famous Howard Zinn whom I still ardently admire even though he is no longer among us, history is written in black and white and in order to get the true picture one must find the grey in between because historians write history that is favourable to their perspective.

You ask me to site my source(s) which you will undoubtedly dismiss as propaganda since it will not fit your agenda. If you are that interested you can google and make your own conclusions upon reading from several sources. I never put too much weight behind so called “credible” sources – org, edu, etc – only because many of these institutions mostly promote the views of those who fund their “research.” It was Winston Churchill who said “history will be kind to me for I will write it.” Rumor and here say are tools that are sometimes used to discredit, cast doubt, and/or falsify actual history. One really has to look at multiple sources and different viewpoints to arrive at their own understanding.

Germans, British, Americans, Canadian, Israelis (late to the game but learning real fast from their many teachers and role models) – same difference.

@ Kamptan,so true and deep, but did Judas really betray Jesus? The Bible tells us that god controls our every thought and actions. And this is seen in the relationship with King Saul and David. Although Saul deeply loved David, the Bible tells us that many a times god caused an evil spirit to come over Saul and he would try to kill David. Then god would turn around and warn David so that he would flee before Saul can find him. Judas really had no choice because he was destined to carry out this act. I don’t know if you are into the curiosities of the Bible and how religious you are (if you are religious, I recommend that you not read the book) but a very good book that is worth the the read is “A Westminster Guide to the Books of the Bible” by William Ramsay. It is actually a theology textbook used by theologian colleges.

Just name a single known Jew in Hitler’s inner circle.

      • compton de castro  On 07/24/2015 at 3:44 pm

Thinker not wishing to side with Gigi am sure that Hitler had Jews as his informers….conformists or non confirmist Jews.
Eg was brought up as a catholic but in later life “religion” and its doctrination
        seemed “silly” to follow.
Am sure there were Jews who supported Hitler with some even aware of his
intentions to “remove them from the planet”. Either they ” feared” him or were “opportunist”….
        Religion divides our world.
        Economics/politics should unite it.
It’s up to the political class to lead the way.

Naming and shaming does not alter beliefs.
Most will prefer to live in denial. Bury head in sand.

We are not here to validate mere speculation but to establish known facts and prevent nonsense from being widely dissipated. The question is whether there were Jews in Hitler’s inner circle. Whether or not there were “Jewish collaborators/traitors” is irrelevant. Hitler made his intentions rather clear in his autobiography so it is nonsense to imagine that there could be Jews in his “inner circle”. Sideing with Gigi on your part is the very least of my concerns. My concern is to make sure that this forum is truly educational for all and not spreading disinformation by people who are ill-informed on crucial aspects of history in particular..

Confirmist or non-confirmist Jews would not have relevant to Nazis. They were seen as an ethnicity/race to be eradicated.

  • compton de castro  On 07/25/2015 at 4:01 am

Sorry your excellency …..never forget at lot of what is “history” may not be “factual”….
Imaginative or creative writings does stir others to formulate their own thinking on what really is fact not fiction.
Today if anyone doubts the ” suggestion” ….Google will often confirm their
If every opinion given has to be accompanied with proof/evidence this blogg may loose its readership sooner than later.
Gigi myself and many other have an opinion which may not necessarily be factual but its for our readers to decide which is or isn’t.
Cyril Bryan the founder member does not edit comments which is
correct if opinions/comments are respectfully put forward.
Main stream media (daily rabble) has lost its readership as people like myself
search for alternative source of information/opinions and can Google if doubtful of what is “propoganda” or “speculation” but both are opinions.

Interpretation is up to the individual understanding of opinions.
We can learn more from the opinion of others than we can ever learn
    from historical facts/fiction.

@thinker, your continuing gnaw on a dry bone speaks to your mindset. As I suggested, you can google this information…but intellectual laziness is the bane of most people, hence the sad state of the world.

You might find reading these two books of interest though I, personally, have not read them. But you may or may not find them “credit worthy.” I also mentioned earlier, information I found on one of America’s presidential libraries pertaining to this and I did suggest that you may want to do a search if you have the time.

“Lionel Gossman, The Passion of Max Von Oppenheim, and in a recent study by Sean McMeekin, The Berlin Baghdad Express, sheds an odd and fascinating light not only on the recent history of the Middle East, but on the small but not insignificant cohort of Germans of Jewish descent who in one way or another are portrayed by latter-day historians as having served Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime…. – See more at:

    • Thinker  On 07/26/2015 at 7:25 pm

The two books largely deal with German Jews operating during and after the FIRST World War in the service of the German government.

@ kamptan, I copied your e-mail so will shoot you a line one day now that you’ve got me doing what I’ve promised not to do. But I think we can have enlightening exchanges. I do remember you posting that you are a twin. How was/is that like? My youngest are twins and they can be a challenge when they tag team to pressure me into getting their way. I did find the book in my local library but went out and purchased my own personal copy after coming to the decision that it was a keeper.

Funny story how I came upon the book. When I was a devout church lady and trying to do the christian thing of reading my bible, I became confused over contradictions in the bible and subsequently went to my pastor with my concerns. He suggested that I should not read the bible and this sent red flag warnings in my head. So one day as I was talking to my very good friend, whom I met in the church, about what the pastor told me, she revealed to me that her husband, who was also a nonbeliever like mine, had actually went to theology college to become a pastor but ended up a nonbeliever and went on to become a doctor instead. She, unlike me at the time, was a nonbeliever but liked attending church for the fellowship. This conversation sent me to my local library seeking answers and I found what I needed.

“Teacher” Gigi. When you talk of Jews in Hitler’s inner circle you are implying that known Jews were part of the conspiracy to persecute and eradicate Jews so they would all rush off to Israel. People who self identified as Jews. There is some evidence that Hitler himself had Jewish and African origins
Every white person named Moore, Morris, Morrison has African origins. Some may even be members of the KKK. But would you therefore say that there are Blacks within that leadership? All the names you mention did not self-identify as Jews so any, like Keitel, who was definitely part of the inner circle did not formulate policy as Jews, which is what you implied. I don’t have time to check all the individuals listed but those interested can go through the list

Continue with the insults and put-downs. You would not be you without them and as a “teacher” you have the bully pulpit. We students have to resolutely use our common sense and check out the facts..

  • Gigi  On 07/26/2015 at 8:31 pm

@kamtan, great family story. They have exceeded your expectations because you were a strong support for them to rely on. Most children don’t get that. Some people spit out kids and have no interest in taking on their responsibility as parents and what we see is an endless cycle of broken homes and broken societies. Some one recently commented on how we need a license/ basically, a tax to drive, to become a professional – doctor, engineer, teacher, etc, – insurance for this and that but none of those things for having kids. If we make people pay to have kids instead of paying them to have kids, kids would not only have a better rate of survival but more would also be appreciated.

  • de castro  On 07/26/2015 at 9:31 pm

Gigi..if we make people to have kids instead of paying them to have kids….
Beg to differ as two wrongs don’t make it right.
    Parents must decide either way.

China controlled child birth….big mistake…one child per couple.

If the “state” takes over child “rearing” it would be too costly so subsidies
are offered. All children need is love sweet love in a loving caring family/home.

There is lobbying to penalise those who have too many children on state benefits …… However as stated above if the state took over child rearing it
becomes too costly….counter productive. Let parents decide if they can
afford children is best solution……with or without incentives

    Que sera
