‘We are building one of the strongest economies’ – Granger tells Guyanese living in Barbados
Barbados (Barbados Today) -To loud cheers and applause, hundreds of Guyanese welcomed President of Guyana David Granger to Bubba’s Sports Bar Sunday morning for a breakfast meeting before his return home.
Declaring, “it looked like Georgetown”, Granger said the meeting was an “act of thanksgiving” for the election of his Government in the May 11 vote.
Granger preached a message of integration, saying it was not an academic term.
Insisting that there was no difference between Barbadians and Guyanese, he urged Guyanese to embrace and be proud of the integration movement.
“We need the integration movement. If we are divided, people will pick us off one by one.
If we are divided, people are going to separate us,” he said, while boasting that Guyana had “enough room to accommodate its Caribbean neighbours and still have room left over.”
Granger promised that his government intended to fast track Guyana’s economic development so that the region could benefit.
“We are going to build one of the strongest economies in the world,” he said, noting that the country cannot do it without the help of its Caribbean neighbours.
Granger also promised the crowd that he would provide better representation for Guyanese abroad and he challenged them to invest more at home.
“We are going to control all of our resources and make sure that Guyanese will never have to be poor again.
We know there are issues affecting you and we have to give you better representation,” the President acknowledged.
Invest in homeland — President Granger urges Guyanese in Barbados
Barbados (NationNews.com) PRESIDENT David Granger says his country and the Caribbean can build one of the strongest economies in the globe if the necessary integration becomes a reality. “We need that integration movement, because if we are divided, people are going to pick us off one by one. If we are divided, people are going to separate us and prevent us from being strong,” he said.

Granger was speaking at a breakfast at Bubba’s Sports Bar on Sunday to allow scores of Guyanese to meet and greet the President who was elected in May, and was in Barbados to participate in the just-concluded CARICOM summit.
“We in Guyana have sufficient land that if every single Caribbean country was put together and put into Guyana, we still have space left over.
“We are going to take control of our resources, our timber, our gold, our diamonds, our bauxite, our petroleum and make sure that Guyanese will never have to be poor again,” Granger said.
However, he noted the now revitalised border dispute between Guyana and Venezuela had implications for the Guyanese economy.
He also promised Guyanese living in Barbados better representation and better opportunities for them to invest in their homeland.
Earlier, loud cheers and applause rang out as Granger arrived at Bubba’s. Supporters waved the Golden Arrowhead , while others wore T-shirts bearing the flag and the A Partnership for National Unity logo. A smiling Granger said to them: “It looks like Georgetown.”
Granger had attended a church service at St Matthias Anglican Church before heading to the restaurant where he had breakfast with Consul General to Barbados, Mr. Michael Brotherson, members of the Guyanese Association of Barbados (GAB) and other Guyanese supporters.
One of the organisers, GAB founding member Joyann Hooper-Beckles, dubbed it Breakfast With The President. She said it was pulled together “in less than 24 hours”.

Can’t wait to see this materialize!!!!!
“We are going to take control of our resources, our timber, our gold, our diamonds, our bauxite, our petroleum and make sure that Guyanese will never have [the right] to be [rich] again,” Granger said.
“Guyanese will rightfully return to being their massas’ slaves. It was, it is still a grave injustice for us Guyanese to be liberated and to be allowed to even partake of the discards of our forced labour,” squeaked uncle Tom to the snickering audience. “We Guyanese must continue to deprive ourselves and go hungry to prove our unfailing loyalty to massa’s overseer, Mr Hunt, whose image will serve as a constant reminder that we are indeed starving ourselves so that massa plate always remain full and overflowing,” continued uncle Tom, trying not to fall asleep while, at the same time, earnestly trying to attract the attention of the audience now fully engrossed in their smartphones.
You would have been more convincing if you had been consistently saying the same BEFORE May 11.
