Why is EU struggling with migrants and asylum?

Why is EU struggling with migrants and asylum?

But championing the rights of poor migrants is difficult as the economic climate is still gloomy, many Europeans are unemployed and wary of foreign workers, and EU countries are divided over how to share the refugee burden.

Shameful..disgraceful. What is the “price of a life”….
Surely the criminals who are profiting from this human trafficking are known.
Find them and either prosecute them in Libya or seek their extradition and
try them in Italy or European courts.
Severe sentencing and incarceration will act as a deterant for future traffickers.

Libya is not UK. No metroploitan police and Scotland yard. Wide open land where people are struggling to survive with their own internal group conflicts. Who would care about human trafficking.

You and me or anyone who cares …..Italians pull the plug as the economics
becomes an issue…..who will pay the bill for patrolling waters around Libya.
If Italians accept illegals and allow them safe passage to Europe bet Europe
will act/do something. I witnessed a border control in Mellila Spanish peninsular
territory linked by land to morocco. It was an absolute joke….
300 illegals mobbed the checkpoint and ended up in Spanish territory.
A ferry ride away to almeria Spanish mainland. Most of them were on an overcrowded ferry with us to almeria.
Isn’t it “economics” the issue of illegals entering USA from mexico.
It must cost taxpayers a fortune to “try” to enforce border control.
Maybe USA should erect a BERLIN wall to keep illegals out.
    Germany is now one country….
Wake up america …wake up world.
Since European union I have not witnessed millions crossing borders
    ….nationalistic political bull**** …..

    Economic migrants built america….
Open border with mexico tomorrow and welcome the “millions ”
that will cross on the day…..within a week the “millions” will return to their
    “Comfort ” zone….

    Its simple
If you have a legal Mexican flag of convenience verifiable by USA border control
allow them safe passage but “tag” them electronically and have them report to
the us migration initially…..monitor this movement and act on it.
Some Prisoners in UK are tagged and must report periodicly or their freedom
    is curtailed…..back to prison.
The figures will astound the authorities.
When borders were removed all over Europe we drove from UK to algarve
using one currency euro and no passport showing borders…we were celebrating
this “freedom” …..a nightmare before !😈pounds francs paesetas escudos.
No queues no silly questions by border guards ….no border.

Try it ….it has worked for Europe ! Tried and tested.
USA still have “state” crossing controls….how stupid.
Laws that differ as per state…..come on its not rocket science.
Free movement of goods services and peoples is a win win situ !😇

  • de castro  On 04/21/2015 at 3:59 pm

Think Libya is signatory of extradition treaty with Italy.
    Enforce/implement it !
List names of traffickers “wanted” dead or alive posters.
Like old american wild west days….see how quickly the “bounty hunters” will appear/emerge…..

  • albert  On 04/21/2015 at 4:10 pm

“USA still have “state” crossing controls….how stupid”
We have 50 states but no state crossing controls. Where did you get that. If you mean countrywide border crossing controls that’s a different horse. If the borders are open millions worldwide will flow in, including terrorists………..Guyana would empty in a few days.

  • de castro  On 04/21/2015 at 5:00 pm

Guyana would empty in few days….ha ha 😀
    Hilarious laughter…

UK was expecting millions of Europeans entering UK legally…
    Never materialised……
Germans were also “concerned” but changed their minds when Berlin
wall removed…..more. Western Germans holidaying in eastern Germany….
cheaper holidays….also cheaper labour for their factories….Germans
    not “aliens” imported cheap labour.
The pluses of no barriers goes on and on.
    Migration phobia is contagious.
Today uk employers are happy to have “aliens” who work for minimum wage £6.50 per hour. Spain prefer to employ “aliens” for minimum wage than
Spanish workers who demand more “liveable” wage.
This phenonimum is duplicated all over Eurozone.

Sorry its countrywide border crossing. However “murder” in one state
cross state border and law different is silly.
    Too big to enforce/exist….an issue.

    Including terrorists 😈
    Will borders stop them ? 9/11 😇

    780.000 Guyanese illegally entering USA….come on …you can’t be serious !😇
Guyanese should be more concerned about a few million “aliens” invading their
homeland. Brazilians Surinamese Venezuelans….luckily language is a barrier.
Not to mention “show off rich Guyanese Americans” …
Cubans tell me they worry about Cuba returning to the gambling/prostituting/corruption returning with new influx of american tourists.

Personally don’t hate Americans ….don’t love/envy them either.
A very money motivated society…..money not god…just useful.
Have refused to visit USA until guns laws are updated/addressed.
    Que Sera

Business in America love the idea of a flow of cheap labor. The real problem with US immigration is that the older conservative white do not want to lose control by having a no-white majority. Hence no legislation on the 11 million illegals in the US.

Protectionist political policy is not only short sighted …its naive and counter productive. China has more professional innovators from west developing
China than Chinese in west developing its economy.
Our world is global regardless of ithe political dogma/phobia propagated
    by our elitist political class.

With the formation of newer trading blocks like BRICS AIIDB ETC to compete with
IMF WB et Al our world is opening up economically.
Political stagnation/stand offs will continue but economic expansion will
increase……hopefully a more economically viable world.

A bit far fetched …but a dream ..!…dreams do come true. Its up to the dreamers
you and me to make it happen……dream on its free.

It is by sharing that we can progress as a species.
‘A caring and sharing world is possible”
Sharing our thoughts words and deeds.

The joy of giving is greater than the joy of taking/receiving.
Human nature is no longer “greed” motivated….it is natural

Will get off my soapbox and return to planet earth…..!😇

    As optimistic as ever.

Sir kamtan lord of cherin by appointment of HRH QE2 UKPLC

“The joy of giving is greater than the joy of taking/receiving”

You sound like some Priest I hear on TV. One wanted his followers to have the joy of giving him enough money to buy a plane so he could give others joy around the world.

Ha ha hilarious laughter….now stigmatised as a “preacher” man….
At least won’t lead my flock to jungles of Guyana only to become
sacrificial lambs to be given koolaid to heaven.

    Stigmata of religious followers/leaders.

If anything on asking god to help, and not immediate I can always ask the devil.
Remember God and Satan were pals once.😈😇

Lost a great schoolmate of mine Oliver Farnum recently…..this guy was a “saint”
we joked with him about his “celebacy” vow after he became a Catholic Priest.
He dedicated his life to serving both God and Guyana.
Was hoping to meet up with him on my next GT visit.

Sad memories of a fellow student.😇
    Que sera

This will be the headline coming out of Guyana should the PNC/APNU+AFC win the election. And Guyana will suffer another larger round of brain drain when the middle class start fleeing in droves, benefiting western countries. This is something I found out from my economics professor. The discussion had gotten off topic(? – not necessarily) and the professor stated that western countries benefit in a multitude of ways from creating instability in these countries. Not only do they gain access to the resources of these countries, they also cause brain drain necessary for the country’s development. In addition, they also encourage/arm twist these countries to restructure their economies by taking out loans with astronomical interest rates and other draconian practices through their institutions – IMF, World Bank, WTO, etc – aimed at making it impossible for these countries to develop, thus keeping them forever poor, desperate, weak, and ill equipped to fight against western imperialism. Modern day slavery.

This is what happened to Guyana with Burnham but he went into this agreement with his eyes wide open, much like the hand-picked leaders in these countries – not too bright, unscrupulous, and full of themselves. Western govts select these very people because they know they will do their bidding if they throw them a few crumbs, give them limited power, and stroke their fragile but massive egos. The problem only arises when they step out of line in terms of getting “too big for their britches” in the eyes of their colonial masters.

I had a African-American professor laughingly accused me of being anti-American when the class discussion veered off into discussing the death of Haiti’s “baby doc” and I mentioned America’s role in Haiti’s politics. He then went on to tell us about how some African rulers were so vile, they would make bizarre bets amongst each other to show the hold they have over their people. One such bet was convincing their people to build houses no higher than their nose. I guess the point he was trying to make is that though the white man is cruel to the black man, the black man is far more cruel to his own kind. When I think of the PNC/APNU apparatus, these stories come to mind because these people are no different.
