New Yorkers Kick Off Spring with Protests Against New Police

Protesters against systemic racism and police brutality took to New York’s city streets this past weekend. Not only were activists protesting racist policies, they’re calling to add 1,000 new officers to the New York Police Department.

New Yorkers wasted no time hitting the streets this Easter weekend with multiple protests against racist policing and calls by politicians for new cops.

Though protests against systemic racism and police brutality continued in New York City through the winter months, most actions consisted of disruptions of business-as-usual by smaller groups of activists. This past Easter weekend, New Yorkers welcomed the spring by marching against racist police practices and calls to add 1,000 new officers to the New York Police Department.   Continue reading

…as thousands turn up for APNU+AFC rally post Nomination
With A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) having presented its lists of candidates, thousands of supporters marched through central Georgetown yesterday afternoon, escorting their leadership to Independence Park for their first post-Nomination Day rally.

AFC executive Nigel Hughes, addressing the milieu of gold and green, reminded those gathered of the historical significance of the ground. He also called for a moment of silence in reflection of all who had lost their lives in the process of fighting for freedom.  Continue reading

President Obama Announces Plan to Train 75,000 Solar Workers by 2020

As part of President Obama’s plans to combat climate change, the White House has announced a program for the U.S. Department of Energy to train 75,000 people to enter the solar workforce by 2020, many of whom will be part of a military veterans jobs initiative called Solar Ready Vets.

somewhere in the tens of thousands.  It was Nomination Day and citizens made no qualms to turnout in support of the Political party of their choice.
