Already the richest country in the world, the United States reached its highest cumulative wealth ever in 2013. It ranked fourth in the world in wealth per person, with $348,000 for every American adult.
But the average American wouldn’t know it. Thanks to economic policies that favor the super-rich and fuel inequality, the typical US adult’s total wealth is $31,688 — not even close to $348,000. Continue reading
Pandit Chunelall Narine and South African Cricket Captain, Hashim Amla – A Beautiful Friendship

One is a Hindu priest, the other a devout Muslim that happens to be the Test cricket captain of South Africa. The priest is Pandit Chunelall Narine and the cricket captain is Hashim Amla. A Beautiful Friendship!
Amla is the first South African of Indian heritage to play for his country in Test cricket. Pandit Chunelall’s grandfather was Pandit Balkaran. He left India with his mother Dilla, on a boat bound for British Guiana, when he was just six months old.
A year ago a unique friendship blossomed between Pt. Chunelall and Hashim Amla that has lessons for tolerance and respect. Pandit Chunelall Narine is the priest-in- charge of the Shri Trimurti Bhavan, a Hindu temple in Queens, New York. The temple attracts devotees from all over New York as they gather to worship and to listen to Pandit Chunelall’s discourses. Continue reading
