Queen’s College of Guyana celebrates 170th Anniversary

2014 marks the 170th year of the founding of the Queen’s College of Guyana. To cQC 170 logo revisedelebrate this milestone , both local and overseas alumni and alumnae of the school will participate in a grand reunion in Georgetown, Guyana during the period October 26-November 1. They will be joined by current students and staff members.

The school was established in 1844 as the Queen’s College Grammar School for boys by  Bishop William Piercy Austin, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the then British Guiana. The first class was held in August of that year with an enrollment of just 15 students and 2 tutors,  Bishop Austin being the school’s first principal. Continue reading
