This reminds me of article I read in a Barbados newspaper about Guyanese women and Bajan men. Apparently Bajan men prefer Guyanese women because they don’t put their hair in curlers and plaster their face in bleaching cream at home just so they can look good when they are in public. This has resulted in resentment of the Guyanese female by Bajan women who claim that Guyanese women are stealing their men and that Bajan men don’t appreciate the discomforts they endure to look good for them. Meanwhile, the poor guy just wants his cake and eat it too…sorry dude, you can’t have both. Ain’t or shouldn’t be happening in these times when women are the majority breadwinners or when both incomes are needed for basic existence.

Great book worth reading – The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf.

“The last thing the consumer index wants men and women to do is to figure out how to love one another: The $1.5 trillion retail-sales industry depends on sexual estrangement between men and women, and is fueled by sexual dissatisfaction. Ads do not sell sex–that would be counterproductive, if it meant that heterosexual women and men turned to one another and were gratified. What they sell is sexual discontent.” Naomi Wolf
