Opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, dressed in white and holding up a flower, is taken into custody by Bolivarian National Guards, in Caracas, Venezuela, Feb 18. Lopez re-emerged from days of hiding to address an anti-government demonstration and then turn himself in to authorities. The American people are the most drugged people in the history of the planet. Illegal drugs get most of the headlines, but the truth is that the number of Americans that are addicted to legal drugs is far greater than the number of Americans that are addicted to illegal drugs.

As you will see below, close to 70 percent of all Americans are currently on at least one prescription drug. In addition, there are 60 million Americans that “abuse alcohol” and 22 million Americans that use illegal drugs. What that means is that almost everyone that you meet is going to be on something. PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — After several rumours of his death surfaced in the Trinidad and Tobago media a few months ago, the ‘Calypso King of the World’ has moved from a coma to the stage. One can safely say, “The Birdie flies again!”

The Mighty Sparrow, Slinger Francisco

Slinger Francisco, the Mighty Sparrow, has been performing on stage at the Kaiso House Calypso Tent for the 2014 carnival season. His debut appearance on Thursday, February 13, 2014, moved the audience at the Queens Park Savannah venue to tears.

Accompanied by his wife Margaret, Sparrow was first warmly greeted by executive members of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), including calypsonian Twiggy, Marvelous Marva and Duane O’Connor. O’Connor had the honour of assisting Sparrow into his jacket moments before his performance.  Continue reading
