I am so ASHAMED to see what has happened to MY BEAUTIFUL GUYANA. What
are the people doing as to get the COUNTRY back to something that you could
be proud of. The government is collecting all the TAXES what are they doing with it. The TAX payers should stop paying all the taxes and revenue until the Government has decided to do something about THE GARBAGE that has been a problem for a very long time.
I know that the Mayor is not getting any money to do anything, look at the TOWN
Hall…. it is a ‘DISGRACE’ I would like to know the people that are responsible for the
upkeep of the COUNTRY… how do they sleep at nights, look at the CITY HALL it
lies in the front of what was once called THE GARDEN CITY OF THE
CARIBBEAN at this point in time the name should be changed to THE GARBAGE CITY OF THE CARIBBEAN, it is an insult to WE THE PEOPLE.
If the people who are living there are not cleaning the place then let them
pay a monthly fee, so the government could employ workers to clean up.
The government would have to purchase garbage trucks.
It is very strange when the country was being ‘RULED by the BRITISH we had
proper schools and very good education and every one had food to eat. Right now
some of the kids have to leave school to look for work as to get a meal.
Yes we are a Republic … a Republic of Garbage.
I think that some parts of the Interior are more pleasant to be in.
Its a crying shame to see what a beautiful country has come to, and if you look
good all the government people are living out of town. They don’t want to wake up
and see and smell the ‘Garbage’. Some of them there yards are all concrete, and
I am sure the government is paying some one to wash it down every day.
GUYANA HAS GONE TO THE DOGS
I would like someone from the Government to reply to me and tell me why
our once Beautiful Country, now has a capital labelled “The City of Garbage”.

Oliver Marques, you are fired up! If the government in power really cared about the garbage in the city, by now they would have done something about it because of the many letter writers who have voiced their opinion and registered their disgust including me as well. I no longer complain, it is like beating a dead horse. My sources tell me when the PPP/C becomes in control of City Hall, we will see the changes. As a concerned Guyanese, I will be paying attention to this move.

In this USA where we live, there is a system of checks and balances, the congress, the senate and the house of representatives – called democracy, I am glad I live under this system and knows how it works and what it is like; I don’t know what system of government Guyana is under, if we all knew and were educated to know, we would not have the political madness that the everyday citizens have to deal with in that country. The opposition cannot do much because they are not in power.

We in the diaspora can do more to help the homeland if we are ‘that mad’ and angry about what we see and hear from our loved ones, on the internet, you tubes, (social media) et.al. It calls for giving up the trappings of success and giving of one self to help others, not many people are willing to do so, and not many Martin Luther Kings and Nelson Mandela’s are around in Guyana.

It is a matter of choice for each individual, some people are basically satisfied with life in Guyana, because they can depend on the remittances and barrels and they like the PPP.. Others are not so fortunate, and are dissatisfied; and these are the least of these, these are the ones I worried about even though the poor will always be with us.

I was in Guyana for two weeks in August 2013 for charitable work, and have a story to tell; but would prefer not to use this medium. I was surrounded by secured people and was privileged to have a private driver. I returned home safely with some scars.

    No Justice No Peace!

Guyana is for Guyanese. Don’t bend out of shape my sistha….
