Jay Z replies in rap to rage over Cuba trip with Beyonce

WASHINGTON, United States, Friday April 12, 2013 – Members of Congress who questioned the legality of power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce’s recent trip to Cuba have been feeling the sharp edge of the music mogul’s talented tongue.

Yesterday, he released a stinging rap targeting the critics and suggesting that he had been accused of breaking the law because of his friendship with President Barack Obama.   

In the song, Jay-Z ridiculed the Miami Republicans, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, who last week demanded an explanation from the Treasury Department detailing why the trip was licensed by the United States government.

Under the terms of the 51-year embargo, Americans are not allowed to visit Cuba “unless authorized by a general or specific license” by the Office of Foreign Asset Control.

While it remains illegal for United States citizens to travel to the island solely for tourism, they can visit legally for academic, cultural, religious and journalistic purposes, provided that the appropriate license has been granted.   [Read more: ]
