Guyanese-Canadian Ned Blair Awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal
Guyanese born Canadian Ned Blair has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for outstanding community service. Federal Member of Parliament Jim Karygiannis made the presentation at the National Ethnic Press and Media council of Canada (NEPMCC) annual dinner at the Cypriot community Centre in Toronto. Blair is Vice-President of NEPMCC.
Karygiannis expressed his personal satisfaction at being involved in the presentation of the award to Blair and formally conferred the medal with the declaration, “On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I am pleased to award you the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal created to mark the 60th anniversary of her Majesty’s accession to the throne.
In granting you this honour, I thank you for your dedicated service to your peers, to your community and to Canada. The contributions made to our nation are most commendable and deserve our praise and admiration. I wish to convey to you the heartiest congratulations from your fellow Canadians to which I add my own.”
