Doomsday 12.21.12 – by Rosaliene Bacchus

Guyanese Online Comment:

“On Friday, 21 December 2012, let us begin a new life of awareness, connectedness, and decency towards others. Let us work to restore decency in our nation, in our communities, in our work places, in our schools, in our homes. Let decency begin with me.”

Well said Rosaliene!

This incident, more than all the other gun atrocities, has made us aware of how unloving and disconnected materialistic societies have become. As we become more electronically connected, we have become less connected to each other. We are strangers in a crowd and only atrocities get us talking to each other. But does this stop us from hating ?… NO NO NO…
Unless we move quickly become fully aware of our universal humanity and actively promote LOVE and “connectedness and decency” in our daily lives… we all all doomed to lives of fear and control … Animal Farm.

Family in shock after Connecticut Shooting – 14 December 2012

I had already drafted my article for this week’s blog about Doomsday 12.21.12 when gun violence reached a new high on Friday, December 14, here in the United States. I am still in shock at the senseless massacre of 20 first-grade children and 6 adults at an elementary school located in a quiet, upscale, suburban neighborhood in Connecticut. Regardless of where we live, our children are not safe.

Something is definitely not right with our world when a “brilliant and remote” 20-year-old Adam Lanza kills his mother and then goes after defenseless children.

The word “remote” used by someone who knew Adam Lanza is telling. In spite of our advances in communication technology and online social networks that connect us 24/7, we are more disconnected than ever before. Even his older brother, by four years, has not…

“The EVIL that MEN do shall LIVE after them. The world is a place where all men women and children shall live and experience the joy and gladness of LIVING together. But we fall short of that DIVINE GRACE due to our SELFISHNESS and have created this world of unhappiness. Every Holy Book on earth have spoken of wars and rumors of wars and know that the end is not near. We must make our world a better Place. How? not by wars but by PEACE. How LOVE thy FELLOWMEN. Today’s world is in chaos and more chaos will come because of the haunted, evil, and troubled MINDS, lurking around the corner to do EVIL. Where is God in this entire SCENARIO. It is not that He is not there, but we must find him somewhere. That somewhere is in your deep MEDITATION and PRAYERS.WE must change from our WICKED WAYS NOW! This is not a SERMON but you and I must think deeply and clearly till we see the LIGHT of LOVE! God’s Blessings for a more peaceful World!

Going back to the Ancient Egyptian God, I would be tempted to use the original “Amun”, just to let people realise that a lot in the Bible is the outgrowth of Egyptian “pagan” history

It appears that only when things happen in the US do they actively grip the imagination of North Americans. Twenty-two schoolchildren in China were stabbed by another madman, but they survived simply because they were stabbed and not shot. The question is the accessibility of high-powered weapons. Humanity has always had wars and heard of rumours of war. Is crass materialism the cause? Much worse things are happening in the Middle East right now largely in the name of religion where all claim to know God for sure and where they are much less materialistic than in North America. Complex human problems will only be solved by rational thinking.
