Guyana national flower- Victoria Regia {Amazonica} largest lily in the world

Of all the animals on the planet, the largest seems to intrigue us the most. How do giraffes’ long legs and necks help them find food? Can butterflies grow bigger than some bird? Is it true that that some snakes grow as long as 40 feet? The last days of the colossal land mammals were millions of years ago and no land animals today reach such a size. The largest mammal on Earth is also the largest animal to ever live on land or in the ocean, dwarfing even the largest Dinosaur, and is the living fossil called the Blue Whale. Measuring more than 110 feet and weighing 200,000 lbs this magnificent animal is still mostly a mystery to science. It has a heart the size of a car, its tongue weighs as much as an elephant and a Blue Whale fluke or tail fins equals the wingspan of a small aircraft.

The mysterious deep uncharted mist- shrouded rainforest of Guyana is home to the lost world of many fascinating giants and secrets of our time- some yet to be discovered.   [more  … GUYANA- THE MYSTERIOUS LAND OF GIANTS ]

Dmitri, Thanks for another impressive article about Guyana.
May I suggest one to include the wonders of Roraima, Kaieteur Falls, the Amerindian Villages, the giant turtles that nest at Shell Beach, and other interesting aspects of the country.
You are doing a great job my friend…..please keep it up.

Dimitri. You have created a great dialogue indeed. Guyana is the land of Many Firsts but who cares and no one bothers about these natural gifts. Not even the Churches will speak of them!
Guyana is the Home of the Mighty Kaiteur, the world’s highest Waterfalls 750 ft drop.
Guyana is the home of the world’s largest Fresh Water fish the ARAPAIMA, weighing 1000 lbs and more.
Guyana is the home of the world’s largest WOODEN Building, The ST George’s Cathedral, in Georgetown.
And so the land of many waters including the Black fresh waters of the Amazon
which is the reserve for the world when no more water will be there to drink.

Excellent concept of ‘giants’ . Tell this to the kids – they will be spell bound! Think of a kid telling this story about this giant plant called the “Victoria Regia”. I can recall a mythical article about it that you wrote as well – and I did suggest the Legend of Kaieteur or Kanaima – take it away Dimitri – I am looking forward to your publication. Another fantastic article & unique writing style that spells Dmitri Allicock. Great reading.
