Guyana’s main exposition, Guyexpo, opened on Thursday September 27,at the Exhibition Centre Sophia with acting President, Sam Hinds, hailing the event as one to celebrate all we have worked for.
He urged Guyanese to work together and to challenge each other to do better. The acting President said, that Guyana has come a long way since independence and has recognized the need for growing our manufacturing sector.
The Private Sector was also commended for their role in the development of the economy by acting Minister of Tourism, Irfaan Alli. Ali called on the private sector too, to be the main mobilisers of capital to fuel this country’s development urging.
Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Ronald Webster, said, that the Private Sector must be commended for its role in the development of the economy noting that it was not without challenge.
Several pieces of entertainment were part of the hour plus long programme, which ended with a spectacular fireworks display.
The expo runs until Monday evening and the Tourism Ministry said, it was confident that their exhibitors will make an impact on the thousands they expect to pass through the site.
