Kadecia Baird of Guyana
(INDYSTAR).- Ashley Spencer, an Indianapolis 19-year-old, won the gold medal in the women’s 400 meters today in track and field’s World Junior Championships at Barcelona.
Spencer broke a 22-year-old meet record with a time of 50.50 seconds. The previous record was 50.62 by Fatima Yusuf, Nigeria, in 1990.
Kadecia Baird of Guyana won silver in 51.04 and Erika Rucker of the United Statesbronze in 51.10. Kadecia’s silver medal finish saw her move from eighth in this year’s rankings to second with that Area A record. Continue reading

What was supposed to be a transparent, standard purchase of a 30-ft ocean-worthy boat has ended up as a scam involving a small group of high level members of the Guyana Police Force.
This is according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, with reference to the purchase of a $17M luxury vessel for regular patrols and crime-fighting purposes. Continue reading
