The hypnotizing charm and passion of this masterpiece by El Cid rings in my ears whenever I taste the mouth watering cuisines of Guyana. Our fruits, beverages and world class cuisines are vital parts of what makes us uniquely one people of Guyana and the video of El Cid brought that out in so many ways.
I find that some of the simpler dishes are the best tasting ones. Simple curry pumpkin with salt beef on shine rice makes “my knees knock”.
The most craved part of the cook-up rice, the “bun-bun” is usually at the bottom of the pot where all the happiness has settled and where I usually target.
There is nothing more exciting than the aroma of Salt fish Choka and Fry Bake to greet you on a special Sunday morning when you “sleep in a little.”
Dal and rice with fry fish, Pepper Pot, Fofoo in soup, Cutty-Cutty Soup, Coocoo, Konkee, Pumpkin Fritters, Pinetarts, Black Cake and Ginger Beer or Mauby and so some many more makes me dizzy with craving and delight.
