No final result tonight – November 30, 2011 – GECOM

No final result tonight

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) will hold its next press briefing tomorrow which means there will be no declaration of the winner of Monday’s general election tonight.

GECOM has been roundly criticised for the sloth in its release of results and came under intense pressure today from political parties and others to speed up.

Commisson Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally had said earlier in the day that there was a possibility that the results would be released tonight but this no longer appears likely.

The ruling PPP/C earlier today withdrew its request for recounts of ballots after it was accused of delaying the process.

withdraw what count? the votes have already infiltrated the system. y do u think they r slowly releasing results. they don’t want to be caught changing figures like what happened in 1997, so no announcements. u talk about utter contempt for the citizens of Guyana
Maybe we will be deported to Haiti. We gun be deeper in refugee status for 5 more years.
    Only the strong will survive.
