America is not broke.

Contrary to what those in power would like you to believe so that you’ll give up your pension, cut your wages, and settle for the life your great-grandparents had, America is not broke. Not by a long shot. The country is awash in wealth and cash. It’s just that it’s not in your hands. It has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers and consumers to the banks and the portfolios of the uber-rich.

Today just 400 Americans have the same wealth as half of all Americans combined. Let me say that again. 400 obscenely rich people, most of whom benefited in some way from the multi-trillion dollar taxpayer “bailout” of 2008, now have as much loot, stock and property as the assets of 155 million Americans combined. If you can’t bring yourself to call that a financial coup d’état, then you are simply not being honest about what you know in your heart to be true.       more… go to web page

So you say the Wealthy don’t pay their fair share? Well I agree with you if you are talking about the 400 uber rich ppl. But there are a lot more than 400 people in the 35% tax bracket. In fact everyone else in that tax bracket are the doctors and small business owners, and investors that are the power house of this country. Hey if they want to make a 500,000,000 and above tax bracket and really get those guys then maybe. But you can’t categorize small business owners with the Rothschilds. The taxes are discouraging to small businesses enough. And when i say small businesses I’m not talking about a dry cleaners I’m talking about a group of doctors that got together and started a medical clinic. A business that isn’t a Walmart, but it is providing jobs and traffic.

And yes I agree that the wealth has been heisted by the banks and other mega corps. But they are not the ones paying for government salaries. The American government is obviously broke, but like you said it’s just the few at the top that have it. $250,000/yr is not the top that we should tax the hell out of. In fact they are our one link to getting the money at the top to trickle down. We need to build a bridge to the top. We can’t abandon capitalism and just start having the government allocating funds through taxes. We need to encourage sections of the economy to bridge the gap. The new upper middle class is the key to raising everyones standard of living. Please tell me what you think.
